2013 Student Design Competition Announcement

The announcement of the 2013 ASA Student Design Competition (last modified January 17, 2012), co-sponsored by the Newman Student Award Fund, has been released!  The 2013 design competition involves the design of a college performance hall and related facilities primarily for the school’s strong opera program. Students intending to enter the competition must register by sending an email to Norman Philipp (nphilipp@pittstate.edu) on or before April 8, 2013.  More information may be found in the full announcement.

Om and Nava from University of Oklahoma receive 2012 Newman Medals

To take advantage of our new website’s blogging ability, we will begin posting news of students who receive the Newman Medals, as that is announced throughout the year.

Other students have received the Newman Medals in 2012 already, but the newest recipients are Lisa Om and Ana Ruiz Nava from the University of Oklahoma, as nominated by faculty member Daniel Butko, for their project “Acoustical Research and Design in Mixed-Use Urban Environments”.  Congratulations, Ana and Lisa!

2012 Student Design Competition Announcement

The 2012 Student Design Competition involves the acoustic design of a mixed use building planned for the Mong Kok district of Hong Kong, to include offices on the lower floors, luxury hotel rooms in the middle floors, and a nightclub on the top floor.  Entries will be judged at the upcoming Acoustical Society of America conference in Hong Kong, May 13-18, 2012.  Student teams interested in participating should register by sending an email to the competition organizers by April 19, 2012.  Please click here to download the full announcement.
