The 2018 Student Design Competition was judged at the 175th meeting of the Acoustical Society of America at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis Hotel, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. The competition is made possible by the support and efforts of the Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics and National Council of Acoustical Consultants, and awards are made possible through the Wenger Foundation’s support of the Newman Student Award Fund. The project involved the design of a new municipal building housing a community hall and a courtroom. Design emphasis was to be placed on room acoustics for the multi-purpose community hall and the court room.
Many thanks are extended to our judges who contributed several hours of their time and expertise to the competition. The judging panel consisted of David Braslau (Braslau Associates), Dana Hougland (SM&W), John Culligan (The Cuningham Group), Dan Deveau (The Cuningham Group), and Shane Kanter (Threshold Acoustics).
